A way overdue Snowies trip

It took way too long to do a trip to the Snowies after the last one which was way back in summer. This time the weather has changed drastically compared to the previous trip, night time temperatures dropping way below zero. I did some exploring around Blue Pool caves and Yarrangobilly area and some photography for the first couple of days, while remaining of the trip I spent fishing the Eucumbene river at various access spots. Fishing wasn’t sensational, but wasn’t too bad either. I managed to land a few nice browns in the slower pools, but couldn’t find any fish holding in the faster water. Fish mostly took small black pheasant tail nymphs, which is what normally I normally use at this time of the year. I’m not too sure if that’s because I have most belief in this type of flies, or is it the creatures that live on the bottom of Eucumbene river, and the size and colour my flies closely match. So overall pretty good trip, here’s a few images down below. Lessons learnt – I think I need to invest into new thermal clothing as the current ones are starting to show it’s age.
