Last trout trip of the season

Here we go again. Another year has gone by. Crazy how fast it goes. For the last trip of the season we decided to ditch the tent living and the spawn run, instead hire a cabin and explore other streams in the Snowies. Tying flies in a heated room after being hammered by rain and wind all day was a read more

New Zealand South Island – Part 2

Second part of the trip saw way more sun than overcast days, and the rivers managed to clear up reasonably well, which meant I was able to hit some of the backountry rivers I was initially planning to. We were really close on cancelling this trip when the forecast showed 20mm of rain and rather thought going having read more

Back to trout in Central West

Now after bass fishing got slow, it was time to get back onto trout rivers in the Central West. Went back to my usual stomping grounds and to my surprise found that the river is running way lower than previous couple of years. Also not much insect activity happening for some reason, as I was expecting read more

Quiet on the bass front

The last bass trip down the coast for the year. The plan was to try and chase bream during the day in the nearby estuaries and hit rivers for bass in the evenings. Well, the plan didn’t really pan out as bream were far and in between, while bass not feeding off the top anymore. Seems like weather read more

Day on the harbour

It was pretty nice to take a boat on the Sydney Harbour this gorgeous summer day. We were hoping to get amongst kingfish at some point but it being a Saturday harbour became so crazy busy by the lunch time I was happy to land anything really. Even pulling out kawhai out of the school wasn’t read more
